L21 is proud to show at Sunday Art Fair the work by Ian Waelder (1993), Nuria Fuster (1978) and Rafa Forteza (1955).

The proposal we present brings into dialogue the work of three artists from three different generations with a very strong relationship towards the materiality and temporality of the work process as an essential part of their practice.

When Nuria Fuster was studying, she decided to dedicate herself to sculpture after feeling a strong crisis towards painting. She discovered a comfort with sculpture that she did not achieve with the two-dimensional medium. It is therefore interesting, in part, to see what happens when we put her sculptures together with recent work in raw linen by Waelder which are born as a result of a series of processes inside the studio. These processes include the random arrangement of objects which, along with the linens, are left abandoned on the floor and over time, are subject to scratches, the superposition of printed matter, dirt and all the daily activity that takes place in the space. All this has been an essential part of Rafa Forteza’s whole body of work (that goes from painting to sculpture) and is present in our booth with a series of sculptures that combine different found objects, some casted in bronze and aluminum and others in their raw state.
